The American Business Journal: Law Abiding Citizen Law Abiding Citizen ================================================================================ admin on 25 November, 2009 04:06:00 DIRECTED BY F. Gary Gray WRITTEN BY Kurt Wimmer The Italian Job director F. Gary Gray’s Law Abiding Citizen isn’t his best work yet, but it is a testament to the fact that he is becoming a director to keep our eyes on. Despite a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer—who wrote Sphere and The Thomas Crown Affair—the script suffers from over-the-top action sequences and a plot that defies logic. That being said, the director accomplishes exactly what he sets out to do. By creating a world of high tension and heartstopping action, this fast-paced movie is bound to keep you on the edge of your seat. The movie is about an average family man, Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler), who decides to take the law into his own hands, after his family is brutally murdered in front of him. He believes the justice system failed to keep his family’s murderers behind bars, and, as a result, he makes his number-one target the district attorney (Jamie Foxx), who had orchestrated the plea bargain in the first place. Law Abiding Citizen is entertaining right from the beginning, and with two great actors fuelling strong performances on opposite sides, it is hard not to come out of this movie satisfied with the $10 you spent. The chemistry between Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler was palpable—always highly tense and exciting to watch. There are only a couple farfetched scenes in the movie that were disappointing, but overall it delivered an entertaining movie that is worthwhile to go see.
