Unemployed students boosts jobless rate
ABJ July 29 - The American unemployment rate increased last month as nearly one million teenagers entered the work force looking for summer jobs.
The economic recovery has spurred some hiring, with private employers adding an average of 100,000 jobs each month. Hiring pace slowed in the past two months, stalling a drop in the unemployment rate.
The current American unemployment rate is about 9.7 per cent nationwide.
Analysts say the unemployment numbers are unfairly impacted because the temporary rise is caused by American college students seeking short-term summer employment.
