Real average hourly earnings down 0.1%
ABJ - December 20 - Real average hourly earnings for all employees fell 0.1 per cent from October to November, seasonally adjusted, reported the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. This decrease stems from a 0.1 per cent decrease in average hourly earnings, while in the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) remained unchanged.
Real average weekly earnings fell 0.1 per cent over the month, as a result of the decrease in real average hourly earnings combined with the unchanged average workweek. Since reaching a peak in October 2010, real average weekly earnings have fallen 1.7 per cent.
Real average hourly earnings fell 1.5 per cent, seasonally adjusted, from November 2010 to November of this year. A 0.3 per cent increase in the average workweek, combined with the decline in real average hourly earnings, resulted in a 1.2 per cent decrease in real average weekly earnings during the same period.
Real average hourly earnings for production and nonsupervisory employees rose 0.2 per cent from October to November, seasonally adjusted. This increase stems from a 0.1 per cent increase in average
hourly earnings and a 0.1 per cent decline in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers.
