Rand Paul endorses Romney
ABJ - June 11 - Rand Paul, U.S. Senator from Kentucky and son of Texas Congressman Ron Paul, has endorsed Mitt Romney as the next President of the United States.
Earlier in the week, Congressman Paul, a one-time hopeful GOP candidate, conceded he would not obtain enough delegates to become the Republican nominee to face off against U.S. President Barack Obama. While Former Massachusetts Governor Romney has earned the required delegates to secure the Republican nomination, there was an initial hope that Paul would earn enough delegate support at the finale, the Republican National Convention.
“While this [delegate] total is not enough to win the nomination, it puts us in a tremendous position to grow our movement and shape the future of the GOP,” the Congressman said, hoping to influence Romney’s Republican platform.
Kentucky Senator Paul said in his endorsement of Romney, “My first choice had always been my father, but now that the nominating process is over, I’m happy to announce that I’m going to be supporting Gov. Mitt Romney.”
Romney was pleased to receive the Kentucky Senator’s endorsement. “I am honored to have earned the endorsement of Rand Paul. Senator Paul has been a leading voice in the effort to scale back the size and reach of government and promote liberty.”
