Foreign, domestic priorities to highlight White House speech
CBJ Aug 31 - President Barack Obama will walk a fine line when pressing Middle East foreign policy priorities, while simultaneously focusing on domestic issues that could determine the Democrats fate in November's Congressional elections.
On Tuesday, Obama will deliver the second Oval Office address of his presidency, hailing the official end of combat operations in Iraq.
"Every single day, I'm pushing this economy forward, repairing the damage that's been done to the middle class over the past decade and promoting the growth we need to get our people back to work," said Obama.
Since passage of the massive healthcare bill early this year, the White House has promised a focus on the economy and job creation, but that has been disrupted greatly by a series of events, namely the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.
