American trade deficit narrows
ABJ Sep 9 - The trade deficit narrowed significantly in July as exports climbed to their highest level in nearly two years, reflecting big gains in sales of American-manufactured airplanes and other goods.
The July deficit fell 14 per cent to US$42.8 billion, according to the Commerce Department, much lower than forecast by economists. Meanwhile, exports increased 1.8 per cent to $153.3 billion, the best showing since August 2008.
